Air India (AI) and Singapore Airlines, (SIA), have significantly expanded their partnership by adding 11 new Indian destinations and 40 additional international destinations. This is the most extensive codeshare extension between the airlines since 2010 and provides travelers with enhanced connections between Singapore, India, & beyond.
From October 27, 2024 the airlines will increase their weekly scheduled codeshare service from 14 to 56 flights.
Under the new arrangement SIA codeshares on Air India domestic routes. This includes flights between Delhi and cities such as Amritsar Bengaluru Coimbatore Lucknow and Varanasi and between Mumbai to destinations such Ahmedabad Amritsar Bengaluru Coimbatore Goa Jaipur Kolkata Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram. SIA will codeshare on Air India flights from Kolkata to Guwahati.
Air India passengers can now access 29 destinations on SIA’s network, including major cities in Australia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and New Zealand. Existing codeshare agreements to Kuala Lumpur will remain in place.
SIA passengers are also able to connect with Air India flights to 12 destinations, including Paris, Frankfurt and Milan. Nairobi, Jeddah and Riyadh will also be accessible from London-Heathrow.
Emerging as a vibrant destination for short-haul travel, Indian travellers are increasingly leaning towards countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia for 5–7-day vacations. This trend was boosted by relaxed visa regulations. Malaysia will be visa-free for Indian passport holders from December 20,23 to December 31, 2024. Thailand’s 60-day policy of visa-free travel until November 11, 2020 is also a factor.
Both airlines will offer codeshare flights for booking through their respective channels, subject to regulatory approvals. Codeshare flights can be booked through both airlines, subject to regulatory approval.
