Air India Express announced an increase of flight operations from three major northeast destinations – Guwahati Agartala Imphal – in its winter schedule. In a statement, the airline said that this is part of its expansion of winter services throughout the country. Air India Express increased its Guwahati operations to 106 flights per week, up from 63 flights last winter.

The airline provides direct connectivity to eight destinations in India: Agartala (India), Bengaluru (India), Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad (India), Imphal (India), Jaipur, and Kolkata. Guwahati is also a one-stop connection to 18 domestic and six international destinations.

The airline increased its weekly flights in Imphal from 14 to 21 this season. This is an increase of 20 flights over the winter before, according to the statement. Since September 2024 when the airline added Agartala, it has increased its flights to 21 weekly and connected two destinations directly – Guwahati, and Kolkata.

Praveen Iyer (Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa) shared that in addition to the flights between Bengaluru, and Agartala the airline plans to further enhance their network between Bengaluru, and Chennai by adding a fifth frequency between this route.

It also offers a one-stop connectivity to 11 domestic destination from Agartala. Ankur Garg, Guwahati Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), said: “The expansion facilitates easier travel to those who wish to explore North East and also strengthens Guwahati’s role as a crucial link with the remainder of the country.”

He added:

“With a fleet that has grown to 90 aircraft and is growing rapidly, we’re well-positioned to meet the needs of emerging Indian Cities.”
