Akasa Air is India’s rapidly growing airline. Belson Coutinho has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer, with effect from January 6, 2025. In this pivotal role, Belson will lead key operational functions, including Inflight Services, Airport Services, Maintenance & Engineering, Flight Operations, IOCC, and Operational Excellence. He will also be the head of the Akasa Learning Academy.
Belson has more than 20 years’ experience in the aviation sector and is well-known for delivering industry-first initiatives in Indian aviation. His expertise includes operational management, leadership, and strategy. This allows him to improve the airline’s efficiency.
Vinay Dube Founder and CEO, Akasa Air commented on the appointment. “We are delighted that Belson has stepped into the role as Chief Operating Officer. His extensive work experience across operational departments, as well as his passion for employee centricity, brand building, and training, make him a great candidate to take on this new role. Belson has been an integral member of Akasa Air’s executive committee ever since the airline was founded in 2022. Before becoming COO, he held the role of Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer, where he played a crucial part in shaping the brand and driving customer-centric innovations.
Akasa has seen a rapid increase in passengers since its launch, August 2022. It now serves more than 14 million passengers. The airline connects 22 domestic cities and five international ones.

Akasa Air increases connectivity flights to Maha Kumbh Akasa Air announced additional flights to Prayagraj to meet the increased demand during Maha Kumbh in 2025. The airline will offer daily flights from January 27 to February 28 2025 connecting Prayagraj, Pune, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad via Delhi.
