Akasa Air is India’s rapidly growing airline. Belson Coutinho has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer, with effect from January 6, 2025. In this pivotal role, Belson will lead key operational functions, including Inflight Services, Airport Services, Maintenance & Engineering, Flight Operations, IOCC, and Operational Excellence. He will also be the head of the Akasa Learning Academy.

Belson has more than 20 years’ experience in the aviation sector and is well-known for delivering industry-first initiatives in Indian aviation. His expertise includes operational management, leadership, and strategy. This allows him to improve the airline’s efficiency.

Belson has been an integral member of Akasa Air’s executive committee ever since the airline was founded in 2022. Before becoming COO, he held the role of Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer, where he played a crucial part in shaping the brand and driving customer-centric innovations.

Akasa has seen a rapid increase in passengers since its launch, August 2022. It now serves more than 14 million passengers. The airline connects 22 domestic cities and five international ones.
