After a fatal incident in the south Brandenburg, police show their sympathy with mourning banners and mourning ribbons.
Following the death of a police officer from Saxony during an operation in the district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz, the Brandenburg police are showing their grief. According to the Ministry of the Interior today, mourning banners have been ordered at all police buildings and service facilities. All police vehicles and patrol boats will also fly flags of sorrow until the 32-year old’s funeral.
A car struck and killed the man yesterday morning in Lauchhammer during a search for car thieves. Despite immediate medical attention and the deployment a rescue helicopter the Saxon policeman died at the accident scene. According to the Southern Police Directorate (SPD), three suspects are currently in custody.
A black ribbon, which is usually attached to vehicles or uniforms and flags, is used to express respect and sympathies in the event of death. It is traditionally worn at funerals or during times of grief.
