British Airways is launching flights from London Heathrow airport to Tbilisi (Georgia) four times per week, starting on 30 March 2025. The full-service airline operates flights from eight UK Airports to London Heathrow. Customers from Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester can travel to Tbilisi via Heathrow with a single ticket.

Georgia, which is located at the intersection of Europe and Asia’s cultures, is known as a country with a rich history, thriving culture, traditional cuisine, and picturesque landscapes. The country is proud to claim that it is the birthplace of wines, with an 8,000 year old history of winemaking. It remains a dominant part of its culture even today.

Tbilisi is situated on the banks Mtkvari River surrounded by hills and the Caucasus Mountains. The city is a popular destination for tourists who want to enjoy the charm of its cobbled city centre, its unique blends of architecture, as well as its diverse cuisine that has been influenced both by its history and its surroundings. The canyons and caves near Kutaisi and multiple UNESCO World heritage sites are within easy reach for avid explorers.

On every flight, customers can choose between two cabins: Club Europe (business) and Euro Traveller. Euro Traveller customers receive a complimentary snack and drink, while Club Europe customers get lounge access, a meal service, priority board, and an additional baggage allowance.

Neil Chernoff is British Airways’ Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, he said:

“We are delighted to welcome Tbilisi into our route network after our last scheduled flight in 2013. This route is expected to be popular with the leisure market which has been resurgent since 2019 as well as those who want to fly directly to their friends and families. We look forward improving the connectivity between both capital cities next year.”

Mariam Kvrivishvili is the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, she said:

“We’re proud that British Airways, the flagship carrier, has decided to enter Georgian market. This is an important recognition of our country.”

This will increase Georgia’s profile in the UK market, and improve its connectivity with the USA. The timings for both the inbound as well as outbound flights were optimized to accommodate customers who wish to connect on other services at Heathrow. This includes New York, and destinations throughout Europe that are not served directly by Georgia, like Madrid and Barcelona.

Customers looking for holiday packages can enjoy a wide selection from British Airways Holidays, which include deposits from just £60pp, flexible payment options, ATOL protection, a 24-hour helpline and 23kg baggage allowance as standard.
