Cathay Group completes its two-year reconstruction process with a bang, surpassing 100,000 passenger on a single flight for the very first time since its start.

Cathay Pacific and HK Express carried a combined 100,856 passengers on 15th December 2024. This milestone was reached as part of the peak travel season at the end of the year. The Group also exceeded the 100,000 passenger mark on eight other days during the period that ended on 31 December.

Ronald Lam expressed his pride at the achievement. “We’re thrilled to have finished 2024 on a positive note with another milestone. The Cathay Group has made unprecedented progress in the past year, thanks to our dedicated employees.

I would like extend my heartfelt gratitude to our global frontline team, who worked tirelessly to ensure that our customers had a smooth journey, whether they were exploring new destinations or reuniting their loved ones.”

The Group has completed a two-year process of rebuilding, which focused on expanding its flight offerings and destinations. “A new chapter for Cathay has begun,” Lam added.

Cathay Pacific has recently resumed its seasonal flight to Cairns in Australia. In accordance with its expansion plans Cathay Pacific will be launching a new long-haul route in 2025. These routes include Hyderabad, Dallas, Munich and Brussels. HK Express also added Shizuoka in Japan to its network, and will launch a new route to Sendai this month.

Both airlines expect to provide passenger services to 100 worldwide destinations by 2025. Cathay Group has achieved another major milestone, continuing to contribute to Hong Kong’s role as an international aviation hub.
