Cebu is located in the Central Visayas Region of the Philippines. Cebu Island is the province’s main island, and it is surrounded by more than 150 islands and islets. Cebu City is the capital of the province, and has been dubbed the Queen City of the South. It is a UNESCO Creative City of Design. Despite modernization, the city has managed to retain its culture and historical landmarks from its 16th-century Spanish Colonial past.
The name Cebu comes from the old Cebuano term’sibu,’ which means trade. Sibu is the shortened form of sinibuayng-hingpit, or a trading place. Cebu City is a center for commerce, trade, industry, and education in the Visayas Region. It is the oldest Philippine city.
Cebu Island also has beautiful mountains and hills as well as forest reserves, crystal clear waters, majestic waterfalls and white-sand beach. All these destinations can be easily reached from Cebu City.

Best Time to Visit Cebu
Cebu is a tropical destination with a warm climate and high humidity. Beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the pleasant weather. The Philippines has only two seasons: the dry and the wet (rainy). The dry season usually runs from December to April, while the rainy (rainy) season lasts from June to October, with the heaviest rainfall occurring between July and September.
Peak and off-Peak Seasons
Cebu’s peak tourist season coincides with the dry seasons, especially from December to May. Travelers flock to Cebu during this period to enjoy the stunning beaches, vibrant festivals, (Sinulog Festival, January), and outdoor activities.
The prices for flights and accommodations are higher and the crowds at popular attractions can be more intense. The off-peak season is the period when it rains. This period may see heavy rains in some areas but also fewer tourists. Accommodation prices can be lower, making this a good option for budget travelers.
