MADRID / ROME – iryo, the high-speed rail operator in Spain, partially owned by Trenitalia (FS Group), and ITA Airways, Italy’s reference carrier, have signed an agreement to offer integrated “train + air” travel between Spain and Italy.

For the FS Group Europe is not only a market. It represents a fundamental opportunity in terms of a future of intermodal, integrated and sustainable mobility. Our vision is seamless mobility between European countries. The train will be used to connect major cities and metros. In this scenario, the intermodality will be at the heart of a European transportation system that reduces CO2 emissions while improving quality of life. The 2025-2029 Strategic Plan is aimed at enhancing international business. A 40% increase in passenger volumes is expected. FS International, a company with 12000 employees and a 3 billion turnover, is the key to achieving the targets that we have set for ourselves.
“This new deal with iryo a member of the FS Group represents a significant expansion in our offer for the Spanish Market and reinforces ITA Airways’ commitment to intermodal traveling. It highlights our values and ambitions: sustainability, innovation, customer-centricity. Our goal is to improve connectivity between Spain, Italy and our hub in Rome Fiumicino.
