Crystal Lagoons expands its foothold in the prestigious luxury hotel sector with its first-ever project inside a Central U.S. resort destination: a two-acre lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches at the award-winning Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas. The groundbreaking for the lagoon took place in June 2024, with a projected completion and open date of Q4 2025.
Part of a significant redevelopment plan, the lagoon is a collaboration between Crystal Lagoons and Dallas-based Woodbine Development Corporation. Woodbine Development Corporation has invested in a number of enhancements at the resort since it opened in 1993. These include guestroom renovations and upgrades to the meeting spaces. They have also added new dining options such as the Woodbine Bar. The project also includes 5 stand-alone Villas with private patios & fire pits as well as a 5,600 sq ft meeting venue overlooking a lagoon.
“Hotels and resorts are always looking to integrate new and distinctive experiences that help their destination stand out from the competition and deliver more value to their guests,” said Ivan Manzur, senior vice president of sales, Crystal Lagoons US Corp.
“With the inclusion of a lagoon as part of their redevelopment plan, Woodbine and Hyatt Regency Hill Country have recognized that what Crystal Lagoons offers is unique in its ability to deliver an enhanced guest experience.”
The Crystal Lagoons-powered lagoon will allow travelers to experience the Texas sun in a whole new way. The lagoon will complement existing amenities such as traditional pools, a FlowRider experience, a lazy river, a water slides, a fitness centre, a 27-hole course, a gym, a health spa, and a spa. The lagoon will be a beautiful backdrop for resort experiences and events.
“We are excited to further enhance the guest experience at our premier San Antonio resort with the addition of the Crystal Lagoons amenity,” said Steven J. Smith, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa.
The lagoon will transform our stunning Hill Country setting into a lush oasis and provide a premier beach experience right here in Central Texas. We are looking forward to introducing this new, unique experience and providing unmatched getaways for travelers and those on a staycation.
Crystal Lagoons is rapidly expanding worldwide, with ongoing projects in countries like the United States, Indonesia, Romania, Mexico, and Uruguay. These projects revolutionize the tourism industry by offering lucrative investment opportunities and enhanced customer experiences.
“Hyatt Regency Hill Country is a highly sought-after destination that has been around for more than 30 year. As we embarked on the redevelopment plan for this resort, we felt a partnership with Crystal Lagoons presented an unparalleled way to enhance the amenity lineup,” said King Scovell, Managing Partner and Chief Development Officer for Woodbine.
We are excited to see the lagoon come to life at Woodbine. We believe that it will provide a unique experience for wedding and group guests, as well as long-time guests.
