Emirates, the largest international airline in the world, will introduce a fourth flight daily on this popular route to increase its connectivity and travel options. This new service will begin on 1 March 2025 and be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with three classes, adding 708 additional seats per day to and from South Africa’s busiest airport.
Connectivity and Enhanced Travel Options
The addition of a fourth daily flight highlights Emirates’ commitment to offering more choices and seamless connectivity for leisure and corporate travellers. This move follows the recent introduction of a second A380 daily service between Dubai to Johannesburg on 1st September, which highlights South Africa’s importance in Emirates’ extensive global network.
Flight Schedule
- EK767: Arrives in Johannesburg at 0620hrs after departing Dubai at 0010hrs.
- EK768: Departs Johannesburg at 10h15, arrives in Dubai by 20h15.
This new schedule allows for a morning departure in Johannesburg, allowing travellers greater flexibility.
Supporting the Growing Travel Demand
Adnan Kazim (Deputy President and Chief Business Officer at Emirates) highlighted the importance of this expansion: “South Africa is a popular destination for leisure and business travellers who connect to and through Dubai. The fourth daily flight allows us to better serve the growing demand for travel into and out of the market. We would like to thank the South African authorities who have been so supportive in securing this service.
Strengthening regional and global connectivity
The new flight will increase connectivity between Emirates’ global network with over 140 destinations. It will optimise schedules for destinations like Dubai, Thailand, India, as well as major European cities such the UK, France the Netherlands and Germany. Passengers will also be able to reach 60 regional African points through codeshare agreements and interline agreements, including with South African Airways and Airlink.
Boosting Cargo Capacity
The fourth flight daily will increase the cargo capacity to 300 tonnes weekly. Emirates SkyCargo will transport commodities such as fresh produce and dairy products, flowers, and seafood. It will connect South African businesses to global markets.
A Long-Term Business Partner in South Africa
Emirates has been a partner of South African aviation, tourism and trade since its inaugural flight in June 1995. The airline has transported over 20 million passengers in and out of the market. Its operations have been constantly scaled up and frequencies increased. Emirates’ flagship A380 aircraft operates two daily flights out of Johannesburg, offering world-class services and products to South African travellers.
Premium On-Ground Experience
Emirates offers premium travel experiences with exclusive lounges at Johannesburg and Cape Town to First Class, Business Class and Skywards members. The airline’s Chauffeur-Driven Service offers luxurious and comfortable transport to premium travellers in all three South African Gateways.
Emirates’ new addition demonstrates its commitment in enhancing travel options in South Africa and supporting economic development. It also confirms its position as a key player in the global aviation sector.
