Emirates will increase its connectivity between Colombo (India) and Dubai by introducing an additional scheduled flight on January 2, 2020. The new flights, designated EK654/655, will boost seat capacity on this route by 30 percent. This additional service is scheduled to operate six days a week up until March 31, 2025.

Flight EK654 will take off from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 10:05 AM (local time), excluding Wednesdays, and is scheduled to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 4:00 PM. The return flight, EK655, will depart BIA at 10:05 PM, reaching Dubai at 1:05 AM the next day. Beginning April 1, 2025, a seventh flight will be added on Wednesdays, with a revised departure time of 10:05 PM, arriving in Dubai at 12:55 AM.

The return leg will leave Dubai at 1:20 PM, arriving in Colombo at 7:15 PM. The new flight service can accommodate up to 360 passengers, featuring 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats, and 310 Economy Class seats. This expansion will not only improve convenience, but also the overall customer experience.

Emirates currently operates two direct flights per day between Colombo, Sri Lanka and Dubai. A third service is available via Male. Emirates began operations in Sri Lanka on April 1986 and has been a key player in the tourism and export sectors of the country through its passenger and freight services. The award-winning airline has successfully transported over 12 million passengers to and from Colombo since inception.

With the addition of these four daily flights, Emirates will provide more than 2,800 seats daily in both directions on the Colombo-Dubai route, along with the capacity to carry up to 160 tonnes of cargo on these flights.
