Emirates has been named the ‘World’s Best Airline’ in a new, comprehensive study by Telegraph Travel, beating 90 global carriers. The study evaluated airlines based on 30 criteria including punctuality and baggage allowances, fleet age, in-flight meals, route networks, and reward programs. Emirates’ top ranking is based on data from 18 independent awards, rating sites, readers’ polls and expert reviews.

Telegraph Travel praised Emirates, calling it a “worthy winner” for its excellent baggage allowance, punctuality and impressive double-decker Airbus A380s which offer generous cabin space, even in economy. Emirates’ premium economy was praised as the best class in the sky. Its business and first class services were also lauded, including chauffeur-driven transfers to the airport and a high-quality wine list. The airline has a network that stretches 140 cities across 77 different countries. Telegraph Travel highlighted Emirates being voted the best long-haul airline by 30,000 readers.

A Methodical Evaluation

The Telegraph Travel Study evaluated 90 airlines based upon their annual passenger numbers. It awarded points based on performance in areas like connectivity, baggage rules, inflight experiences, fleet age and loyalty programs. Data was collected through multiple sources such as AirlineRatings.com Skytrax TrustPilot APEX and other.

Emirates’ Winning Year

Emirates won 19 additional awards in 2024. These included seven accolades for the Skytrax World Airline Awards in categories like “World’s Best Inflight Entertainment” and “Best Comfort Amenities for First Class.” The airline was also awarded top honours by the Business Traveller Middle East Awards, and the Pax International Magazine Awards in recognition of its inflight entertainment system and customer service.

Unmatched Inflight Entertainment

Emirates’ award-winning system of inflight entertainment, ICE offers more than 6,500 channels, in over 40 languages. This allows passengers to choose from a variety of options.
