This strategic partnership was signed today at Ethiopian Airlines headquarters in Addis-Abeba. It also includes a codeshare agreement, which will allow passengers to travel more easily across both networks.

As part of the collaboration, the airlines will launch new flights between Abu Dhabi, and Addis Ababa to strengthen ties between these two regions. Ethiopian Airlines will begin services from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to Zayed International Airport on 15 July. Etihad Airways will launch daily flights to Addis Ababa beginning 1 October.

Subject to regulatory approval, the Etihad – Ethiopian JV will enable both airlines to collaborate in developing and expanding routes between the UAE and Ethiopia, as well as enhancing connectivity across their respective networks. This partnership is intended to offer greater value to customers by strengthening links among Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

The launch of flights between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Abu Dhabi will connect our expanding networks. Our customers will have seamless access to an ever-growing list of destinations through our extensive hubs. This opens the door to deeper discussions about working together in our respective regions, including frequent flyer programs, training, and cargo.

We would like to extend an open invitation to Ethiopian tourists visiting Abu Dhabi. We hope they enjoy our renowned hospitality, and learn about the rich culture in our city. Abu Dhabi is home to a variety of attractions. From world-class cultural landmarks and breathtaking beaches to thrilling theme park rides and tranquil desert landscapes.
