Etihad Airways has announced the expansion of its strategic partnership, with Air Europa, one of the leading Spanish carriers. This collaboration is aimed at improving commercial and operational links, while offering passengers improved services and greater value.

Etihad’s expanded partnership with Air Europa will see it increase its flight frequency from Madrid to Abu Dhabi. The flights are scheduled to operate twice a day by summer 2025.

The enhanced collaboration will further strengthen the connection between Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. This will create a more seamless and connected travel experience in these key regions.

Arik De, Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial officer, highlighted the importance of the partnership.

“We are in discussion to deepen our frequent flyer and codeshare programmes, enabling both carriers to expand into new market, with the possibility of a wet leasing operation using an Air Europa plane between Madrid and Abu Dhabi.”

Richard Clark expressed his excitement at the potential of this partnership. He said, “We’re thrilled to expand our cooperation with Etihad Airways.”

This initiative will allow us to reach the Middle East and Asia. It will also provide more opportunities to passengers to connect between Europe and America. The two airlines share a partnership already, including reciprocal frequent-flyer benefits and bilateral codesharing.

Air Europa will be able to further strengthen its presence in the Middle East, Asia and beyond by leveraging Etihad Abu Dhabi’s hub. This expanded collaboration highlights the commitment of both airlines to provide seamless, high-quality service to their customers.
