Goa is one the most popular beach destinations in India. It is well-known for its vibrant nightlife and amazing cuisine. Its people are friendly and welcoming. The state attracts thousands of tourists from both the national and international markets every year. PTI reported that foreign tourists face many challenges and problems when trying to get to Goa.
As of today, foreign visitors still need government assistance to make the state more accessible. To encourage more foreign visitors, the government of the state has proposed a scheme that allows visas to be issued on arrival. The state also pushes for better air connectivity in order to attract international tourists.
In a press release, the state tourism department emphasized the importance of charter flight from key international markets such as Moscow, London and Ekaterinburg. On November 8, a Polish charter is scheduled to land in Goa.
This interest is not limited to Goa’s famous beaches but also includes the state’s scenic hinterlands such as Dudhsagar Falls. The government is working with airlines to improve air links. A spokesperson for Goa’s tourism department said that the central government must provide more support to establish stronger international connectivity. This support is seen to be vital in making Goa an attractive and accessible destination for international travelers.
The spokesperson noted that, after the disruptions caused due to the pandemic, Goa’s international tourism is rebounding with over 450,000 foreign visitors expected in 2023. This is in addition the the over 8,000,000 domestic visitors recorded that same year.
Goa, despite its positive trends, still faces many challenges, notably the limited number of direct international flights. To address this issue, the state government works closely with the federal government to increase direct flight routes.
Goa, with its beaches and scenic scenery, continues to attract visitors from around the globe. Goa hopes, through these efforts, to further enhance the appeal of its tourism destination as a global one.
