InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (“IndiGo”) has announced the results for the third fiscal quarter 2025. Despite the impact of currency fluctuations, the company reported a profit of INR 24.55 billion. This compares with a profit INR 29,98 billion for the same period in last year. IndiGo’s profit, excluding currency effects, reached INR 38.5 billion, reflecting its strong operational execution in the face of ongoing market demand.
The airline’s capacity increased by 12 percent to 40.8 billion ASKs during the quarter, while passenger numbers increased by 12.7% to 31.1 millions. The unit passenger revenue, PRASK, grew modestly by 0.3 percent to INR 4.72, and the total revenue from operations increased by 13.7 percent to INR 221107 million. IndiGo’s cost-per-available seat kilometre (CASK), however, rose by 6.8 percent to INR 4,83, largely due to higher operating costs.
Pieter Elbers commented on IndiGo’s performance. “We delivered a solid third quarter of the financial year 2025 both operationally as well as financially,” he said.
These results were driven primarily by the robust market demand and our ability meet that demand, backed by lower fuel costs. We served a record number of 31.1 million passengers and 2,200 daily flights during the quarter. We will continue to grow to give our customers more choices to fly to their desired destinations.”
The airline’s total revenue for the quarter was INR 229.28 million, a 14.6% increase over the previous year. Passenger ticket sales increased by 12.3 percent to INR 192,678 millions, while ancillary revenue grew by a significant 22.3 per cent.
IndiGo’s operating costs increased by 19.9% in the third quarter to INR 204.657 million. This reflects the increasing cost of operations. IndiGo still had a healthy cash balance as of December 31st 2024, which was INR 443,808 millions. This includes INR 289.035 million of free cash, which positions IndiGo well for continued growth.
IndiGo is planning to increase its capacity by 20 percent in Q4 of FY2025. The airline is expanding its fleet which now has 437 aircraft. 27 new passenger planes were added to the fleet during the quarter. IndiGo’s performance is strong. It has a technical dispatch reliability rate of 99.89% and a performance on-time of 73.33% at major metro airports.
