It’s easy to get to the most beautiful beach you’ve ever seen with cheap travel from the city. There are many beautiful beaches to choose but we recommend these four: Paradise Beach, Santiago Bay (Camotes Islands), Bakhaw Beach and Bounty Beach.
The Price is Right
It’s because the Philippines are so cheap that they are a very popular tourist destination! You can get street food for as little as $2 or 3 USD, and meals in restaurants are even cheaper. Dinner for two at a nice restaurant will still cost you around $15USD. As with any place, there are different price ranges. But the amount that you pay for an expensive meal is less than you would in the USA, or most of Europe. If you make a typical Western income, you will enjoy paying Filipino prices on your vacation.
English Speaking Locals
The level of English is incredible in the Philippines, unlike many other countries in Southeast Asia. Most tourists in this region of the world are seeking a new culture, but are hesitant to immerse in one that does not speak the same language. Cebu City has no language barrier, as English is widely spoken. This makes it super easy to make friends in the Philippines! Many travelers enjoy chatting with locals at bars and restaurants in order to learn more about Cebu.
Super Friendly People
Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Cebu City in particular are home to some of the most kindhearted people on the planet. Many tourists believe that they are only nice because tourism gives them money. Although tourism money is important to the local economy, you’d find the same level kindness in a place without tourism. It’s hard to go more than 5 minutes without seeing someone smile!

It is not uncommon for the cost of a plane ticket to Cebu from Manila to be less than $25. Bangkok, Thailand is a starting point that offers flights to Cebu for less than $100USD.
Waterfalls in Cebu
Yes, we have said that the islands and beachs are incredible. We stand by our statement, but there are also beautiful waterfalls in the inland area near Cebu. These natural wonders all differ from one another and should not be missed. You may not have time to visit all of them so if you don’t here’s a list of our favorites: Kawasan Falls (touristy but there’s a reason for that… it’s beautiful), Aguinid Falls, Tumalog Falls, Dao Falls, and Bugasok Falls.
Cebu Mountain range
Hiking the mountains near Cebu will reward you. Many mountains have campsites for those who want to stay overnight or two. Others choose a day-trip. Mt. Kan-Irag, Mt. Mt. Babag. This list is sadly too short.
Local Filipino Food
Cebu’s food could be enough to fill a week. Cebu Lechon, a new dish that is sure to delight foodies, is something you should try. This salty snack will be unlike anything you’ve tried before. Ginabut, another pork dish worth trying is a good option if you are feeling adventurous. It’s deep fried pig intestines!
Proximity is everything else
This last point is important, if a bit anticlimactic. Cebu’s central location within the Philippines makes it a great place to visit if you are traveling in Southeast Asia. Cebu is the perfect place to stay for a long time or as a pitstop on your travels around the world. What is next after Cebu?
