A new visa type called the Neo Nomad was introduced under the directive of President KK Tokayev. This visa is aimed at so-called “modern nomads” – foreign tourists that combine travel with work. According to a statement by the Embassy of Kazakhstan the new visa policies are based on international experience from more than 50 countries which have successfully implemented programmes similar to the one after the pandemic.
For a Neo-Nomad visa to be issued, a foreigner must have a stable annual income of USD 3,000 or more outside of Kazakhstan. Foreign applicants will also need to provide proof of health insurance, as well as a criminal record certificate. The visa is intended for tourists working remotely across a wide range of fields from marketing, programming and finance to consulting and design.
India will be attending the World Travel Market to promote its tourism sector. India wants to attract more visitors from the UK – its third largest source of tourists – by focusing on MICE and wedding tourism. The ‘Chalo India initiative’ encourages Indian diaspora members to invite their foreign friends to India to experience its diverse culture and heritage.
Foreign tourists can stay in Kazakhstan as long as one year and still be employed by their companies abroad. The visa will allow foreign tourists to immerse themselves into the culture and lifestyle of Kazakhstan, as well as bring economic benefits to the country. The economic impact of the visa is estimated to be 3.6 billion Tenge per year, if 500 people are granted the visa.
“As a direct result of the joint efforts of the Ministries of Tourism and Sports, Foreign Affairs, Interior and other interested government agencies, Kazakhstan has now become a part of the travel map of modern nomads.”
“We are working to create the necessary conditions for them to come to Kazakhstan.”
“Almaty and Astana, in particular, are already ranked among the top 150 cities that attract neonomads,” stated Yerbol Mzabossynov.
