Korean Air, the flag carrier of South Korea, announced that it will be expanding its route network in China and Japan. The airline will resume several routes in both countries while increasing the number of flights that fly popular routes.

Korean Air’s Seoul Incheon – Mudanjiang service and Busan – Qingdao service are scheduled to resume. The first flight will take off on 22nd October. The second flight will begin on 1st Dec.

Korean Air’s Seoul Incheon – Mudanjiang flight is five times per week, on Tuesdays. Thursdays. Fridays. Saturdays. and Sundays. The Busan-Qingdao flight is scheduled to be daily.

Heading into China or Taiwan

Korean Air has increased its daily service on the Seoul Incheon-Zhengzhou flight from four weekly services to a new daily service starting 12th August.  It will also schedule more flights on its Seoul Incheon to Xiamen route starting 1st Oct.

From 10 September until 26 October, Korean Air will fly four times a day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Starting on the 27th of October, the airline will increase the frequency up to a daily flight to boost its presence within the Taiwanese Aviation sector.

Korean Air hopes by December 2019, its flights to China can reach 95 percent the capacity of December 2019.

Relaunching into Japan

Korean Air also plans to relaunch their Seoul Incheon – Nagasaki winter route after a long break of over 11 years. Starting on 27th October, this route will operate four-times weekly, Mondays, Thursdays Saturdays and Sundays. This will provide new travel opportunities for the historic Japanese city.

A temporary increase in flights will also be made on the Seoul Incheon to Osaka route from 2 September to 26 October. Korean Air plans to add four new daily flights to its existing three. This enhanced schedule is designed to accommodate an increase in travel to Osaka during the fall.

From September 2 to October 26 the airline will increase its daily flight schedule from three to four. This will accommodate the anticipated increase in autumn tourism to this popular Japanese destination. The airline hopes to reach 106 per cent of its pre-pandemic Japan capacity by the end of the year.
