New York does not have the title of capital or largest state in the United States. New York is, along with California the most famous state in the United States. New York is so diverse that if you spend two days there and use the metro, you may meet people from around the world. New York is a must for any visitor to the United States. There’s something there for everyone.

New York is one the most popular destinations on earth. New York is one of the ten cities I can name from memory. I am sure that I am not the only one who has these characteristics. New York is one of the most cosmopolitan and fascinating cities in the world. Many people have limited time, even though they could spend weeks or months exploring the city. I have put together an ultimate travel guide for spending a day on New York. You can also follow this guide if you want to go slow and spend two days in New York.

Walk in SoHo

Your trip to New York begins in SoHo. It was a great experience to walk down SoHo Street. SoHo is located in lower Manhattan, south of Houston Street. It is characterized by cast iron buildings. Formerly warehouses, these buildings have been transformed into residences, restaurants and art galleries. The cobblestoned streets, Mercer Street and Greene in particular, will take you back to the past via a Time Machine. If you’re looking to do some high-end retail shopping, this is the place to go. Not to mention the best restaurants in the area. SoHo has become a popular destination for tourists in New York due to its architecture, shopping and cuisine, as well as the vibrant atmosphere.

Rockefeller Park

Battery Park is next to Rockefeller Park. One can see New Jersey’s entire metropolis from here. It was a great place to spend time. The dense clouds create new vibes and moods on the river. The cityscape above it was a wonderful experience.

9/11 Memorial & Museum

The twin tower attacks of September 11, 2001, shocked the world. Terrorists hijacked aircraft and slammed the planes into the World Trade Center Twin Towers. These were two of five tallest structures in the world at the time. The 9/11 memorial and Museum is dedicated to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The memorial is made up of two reflecting pools that are roughly the same size as the original footprints of the Twin Towers. A grove 400 swamp white oaks surrounds the pools. The names of the 2,977 victims of the attacks are etched into the walls. On the names of those killed, people can be seen placing flowers.

Spending some time in the museum will transport you to another time and make you believe that humanity will eventually overcome all forms terrorism. The museum uses artifacts, photographs and a timeline to tell the story. To avoid the long lines, you can purchase tickets online for the 9/11 memorial.

World Trade Center Transportation Hub

The World Trade Center Transportation Hub (also known as Oculus) is located next to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. This is both a well-known architectural icon and a transportation hub. The oculus resembles a large bird’s wing. The building was designed to inspire a spirit of hope and upliftment, paying homage to the spirit that emerged in the aftermath the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It is located near the 9/11 Memorial, and it serves as the entrance to the memorial. You won’t regret going inside if you don’t walk by the station.

XO World

XO World, a public project, consisted of 11 artworks that were installed throughout New York. My favorite is above, with a large globe and two massive hands crossing. This is outside the World Trade Center.

Wall Street

Who doesn’t like money? Wall Street is the first thing I think of when I hear people talk about money! Wall Street is a major influence on the global finance system. Here is the New York Stock Exchange, the largest stock exchange in the world. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which is based in New York, controls the interest rates, which determine how much money you will have tomorrow.

The “Wall Street Bull” or “Charging Bull”, is located only a few blocks away from the New York Stock Exchange. This bronze sculpture represents both the power and hope of the American people (the market). We call it bullish when the stock market is rising. Everyone rejoices. You must wait in line if you want to take a picture in front of the sculpture. You will see a young girl named “Fearless Girl”, facing the charging Bull, near the charging Bull; it represents women empowerment in the market.

The Battery

The Battery (formerly Battery Park City) was a planned community in Lower Manhattan of New York City. It is located on the southwest tip of Manhattan and occupies 92 acres. Enjoy the vast green spaces.

The weird sculptures in this park are what I found most interesting. Some of the sculptures were small, while others were larger. Battery Park City offers you the opportunity to enjoy waterfront views as well as gardens, walking trails, and recreational facilities.

Statue Of Liberty

The Statues of Liberty are the most recognized symbols of the United States. They were a gift to the United States from the French in 1886. The statue holds in one hand a torch and in the other a book that contains the date of the US Declaration of Independence. A broken chain and shackle on her feet represent the end of slavery in the United States. If you do not have a strong desire for the Statue of Liberty to be included in your New York one-day itinerary, you can skip it. The Statue of Liberty is located on Ellis Island, and it will take a large part of your day to visit. Battery Park in Manhattan is a good place to see the Statue of Liberty. The photo above was taken in front of the East Coast Memorial of the Battery.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

If you have ever watched a New York movie, you may have seen the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is considered to be New York’s most iconic building. This well-known structure connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is best to see the Brooklyn Bridge at night when it sparkles. Brooklyn Bridge Park offers a great view. Brooklyn Bridge Park provides stunning views of Manhattan’s skyline as well as the East River.

Hudson River Park

Hudson River Park hosts a wide range of events and programs throughout the year. Concerts, outdoor film screenings, fitness courses, educational events and festivals are just a few of the many activities that Hudson River Park offers. The park’s events calendar is always packed with activities for people of all interests and ages.

If you’ve been to Greece, then you know how an amphitheater looks. In Hudson River Park you’ll find a little wooden amphitheater. Sit and gaze out at the bay. As the breeze blows, some music might entice you.

The High Line Park

High Line Park is unique! It’s a linear elevated park in Manhattan. It is built along the West Side Line which was a historic elevated railway track used for freight trains. The High Line Park is home to a 1,45 mile elevated walkway that was reused. The elevated structure provides a unique view of the surrounding area, including views of cityscapes, the Hudson River and the streets below.

In Highline Park I found a multicolored mural. There were a few complimentary pens available on the ground for anyone to draw or write what they want. It was fascinating to watch how many people came and left their marks on this wall. I couldn’t resist leaving my mark in Bangla – my native tongue – on that wall.

Hudson Yards

Skyscrapers are everywhere in New York City. You’ve probably seen them in movies and TV shows. Hudson Yards, however, is the place to be to see skyscrapers. It is the biggest private real estate project (18 million square foot) in US History, with 16 towers including the highest structure of Manhattan’s westside. If you visit, the VESSEL is a honeycomb structure with interconnected staircases and platforms. Don’t miss the opportunity to ascend the 154 flights of steps to get a bird’s eye view of the city. You can rest in public spaces, greeneries, and parks.

Times Square

As the sun sets, head to Times Square. Time Square is synonymous, then, with New York. Times Square is one place in the world that is as vibrant, brilliant, and sparkling. It’s no wonder that New Year’s Eve celebrations in New York are held in Times Square. You shouldn’t miss this if you’re there on New Years Eve.

Times Square is famous for its bright neon lights and billboard display. Massive electronic billboards advertise various products and activities. The LED screens and signs of Times Square provide a stunning visual experience. This makes it a popular tourist and local destination. The largest wax museum in the World, Madame Tussauds Museum is located in Times Square. Here you will find 200 wax figures representing different celebrations.

Times Square is located in the Broadway Theater District. The district is home a number of theaters which showcase world-class musicals, plays, and performances. Since almost a hundred years, the area has been synonymous with live theatre and has served as an event hub. Times Square is home to many famous events and performances that have helped the area gain a reputation as an entertainment and cultural hotspot.
