The Philippine Department of Tourism announced its participation at the World Travel Market this year, which is scheduled to take place this week in London. In a press release issued on Friday 1st November, DOT officials highlighted how the event scheduled from 5th to 7th of November would be an opportunity to attract more tourists, especially since the European market makes up a large percentage of foreign visitors to the nation.
The Philippines’ ninth largest source market is the United Kingdom, which has recorded 128,660 arrivals between 1st January and 31st Oct 2024. The UK’s outbound travel market is regaining momentum, which presents a good opportunity for the Philippines.
As of the 1st of November, the number international visitors to the Philippines reached 4,879 022, which is less than 3 millions away from the DOT’s year-end goal of 7.7million arrivals.
The DOT believes that UK tourists are increasingly looking for destinations that offer both value and experience. The Philippines’ rich history, diverse landscapes and immersive travel experiences match the market’s expectations.
What the Philippines wants to present
The DOT announced that its delegation will showcase the country at the WTM London as a top global destination.
Tourism secretary Christina Frasco said:
