Qantas launched its route from Brisbane to Port Vila, the capital city of Vanuatu, on 10th September.
QF159, flying at full capacity, made the three-hour trip to the island destination.
The new route is designed to promote tourism between Australia, Vanuatu and the wider Pacific region. It will also strengthen economic ties, boost the local economy, and provide a boost to tourism in the broader Pacific. This will encourage Australians to continue to visit the island capital.
Adela Issachar Aru said:
“The launch of Qantas’ inaugural flight from Brisbane-Port Vila marks an important milestone for Vanuatu’s tourism industry and strengthens the connectivity with Australia.”
Brisbane: Three times per week
Qantas has launched a new route that offers three direct flights a week from Brisbane.
From the 12th of December, Jetstar, a sister airline, will operate four flights per week between Sydney and Port Vila.
The expansion of the two airlines into Vanuatu will allow them to offer 150,000 additional seats per year between Australia & Vanuatu. It is now easier than ever before for Australians and other nationalities to visit Vanuatu and experience its beaches, rich culture and unique adventures.
Qantas Group International CEO Cam Wallace commented on this development, saying:
“We are excited to expand our network by the introduction of direct flight between Brisbane and Port Vila.”
This new route will maintain the connectivity between Australia and South Pacific, and open new opportunities for leisure or business travel in the region.
