Spain-based accommodation provider Gaiarooms has raised €10 million to expand its network of technology-powered establishments. Bonsai Venture Capital led the funding with angel investor Javier Llorente.

Gaiarooms was founded in 2018 and offers hotels, hostels, and apartments with automated checkout and 24-hour service. It also provides flexible management options to independent hoteliers who have the ability for revenue management and advertising.

“Our model allows independent hoteliers to join a digitized chain, optimizing management and maximizing the profitability of their establishments,” Enrique Domínguez, co-founder and CEO of Gaiarooms, said in a press release.

“This funding will allow us continue to innovate, expand our network and create this new category 100% digital hotel experiences.”

Gaiarooms currently operates 900 accommodation units in eight cities in Spain. The company plans to increase this number to 4,000 rooms by the year 2028. The company is now eyeing “strategic locations for growth” in other major Spanish cities, namely Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Porto and San Sebastián and also international growth.

Gaiarooms cited that it also placed a focus on sustainability, incorporating “eco friendly materials and consumption control system that optimize energy efficiency.”
