Jazeera Airways (Kuwait’s leading low cost airline) announced plans to streamline their operations by insourcing the ground handling services of Kuwait International Airport. This strategic decision is a critical component of the airline’s ongoing transformation journey, which aims to optimize operational efficiency and enhance customer experience while driving lowest unit costs.
Jazeera Airways, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary of operations, continues to achieve important milestones in its expansion. Jazeera Airways’ fleet of 24 Airbus A320 planes and its annual passenger traffic of almost 5 million have helped it to become a major player in aviation. The airline contributes to 31 percent of passenger traffic in Kuwait with more than 18,000. This reinforces Kuwait’s status as an important regional aviation hub.
Jazeera Airways will continue to grow as it welcomes new aircraft from its order book of over $3.4 billion. A total of 26 aircraft – comprising 18 Airbus A320 and 8 Airbus A321 – are scheduled for delivery starting in 2027. As part its growth strategy the airline recently acquired six Airbus A320ceo to support its transformation initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
Marwan Boodai said, “Following the successful implementation of aircraft maintenance and training at Jazeera bringing ground handling in-house marks a key milestone in our strategy to enhance efficiency, and elevate the customer experience. As we continue to expand and prepare for the arrival of new aircraft, this strategic move will allow us to improve turnaround times, deliver superior service quality, and achieve lower unit costs—ensuring that we keep our fares affordable for our customers.”
As a Kuwaiti-owned company, we are also committed to investing in Kuwait’s aviation sector as per the Vision 2035 set forth by the government. This year we will announce new and exciting projects which will not only support the expansion of our company but also create valuable employment opportunities for the next Kuwaiti graduate generation.”
The decision of Jazeera Airways to insource the full ground handling service reflects its commitment to improve efficiency, and to ensure a seamless travel experience to passengers. Jazeera Airways is committed to strengthening its market position while continuing to provide reliable, affordable and high-quality service to its customers.
