It is a destination for both residents and tourists alike, with ancient temples and exciting night markets, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. Chiang Mai has a vibrant wellness culture with yoga studios, meditation retreats, eco-friendly resorts and a seemingly endless choice of plant-based foods. This makes it a great option for a wellness weekend or a longer retreat to enjoy all that Chiang Mai can offer.
Stay at Away Chiang Mai Thapae – A vegan retreat
Away Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai (northern Thailand) is a 100% vegan retreat that is plant-based. It should be on every vegan’s radar. Away Chiang Mai is located just a short distance from the vibrant old town. It combines boutique luxury with wellness programmes and plant-based food to create a perfect oasis.
Away Chiang Mai’s focus on mindfulness and wellness provided us with a generous slice relaxation, rejuvenation and meditation during our recent Chiang Mai weekend. The warm welcome, the beautifully decorated room, and the refreshing pool all contributed to a memorable stay. But it was the vegan cuisine and private yoga lessons that really elevated our stay.
Enjoy a private Yoga class
Away Chiang Mai offers a variety of unique and personalised experiences. These private sessions allow guests to focus on their goals and preferences with the full attention of their own yoga teacher. Whether you are a beginner, or a seasoned practitioner the instructor will safely adjust the practice to meet your needs. They will ensure that every pose and move is aligned with your current capabilities. It was the most rewarding and enlightening class we have ever attended. Our experience in the excellent private yoga session at Away Chiang Mai has inspired us to elevate our own journey.
Join a group yoga class
Wild Rose Studio, located in the heart the old town in a beautifully renovated traditional Thai wooden home, offers a tranquil environment that enhanced our entire yoga experience. The studio offers a wide range of yoga styles. Participants can choose based on their skill level and preference, whether they are looking for a more meditative experience or something physically challenging. The intimate, warm, and welcoming setting is equipped with all necessary equipment and facilities. After your class, it’s easy to explore the nearby cafés or temples, completing the perfect day of wellness and discovery in Chiang Mai.
Vegan dining experience at Moreganic
Moreganic’s creative and varied menu, located in Away Chiang Mai’s vegan restaurant, has something to offer everyone. There are enough plant-based options that you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious plant-based food at every visit. We were impressed by our Thai vegan meal at Moreganic.
The soft tofu served in red curry sauce was one of our favourite dishes. This was paired with pineapple-fried rice with cashews as well as vegan ham. Moreganic is a wellness-themed hotel, so alcohol is not served. However, you can still choose from the many mocktails available or a bottle of Heineken alcohol-free beer, which we love.
Vegan dining experience at Goodsouls Kitchen
Goodsouls Kitchen is a plant-based restaurant that has been welcoming diners in 2017 with a wide variety of delicious food. Goodsouls Kitchen has vegan versions of Thai favorites such as massaman curries, pad Thais, and khao Soi. They also offer vegan pizzas, vegan burgers, and vegan pizzas.
This restaurant is a top choice for vegans in Chiang Mai. It’s no surprise, given the welcoming atmosphere and buzzing energy. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed if you order a few slices of their decadent vegan cake.
Fah Lanna Spa: indulge in a relaxing spa experience
What better way is there to end a perfect wellness weekend in Chiang Mai, than with a 4-hour spa journey in the heart the old city at Fah Lanna? Our package was called ‘Fah Lanna Mahabhirom’, which in addition to the unique massage included herbal steam, royal bath, exfoliating body scrub and a five step facial. The unique and blissful combination of traditional Thai Massage, Aromatherapy Oil Massage and Tok Sen was a combination between traditional Thai Massage, Aromatherapy Oil massage and Tok Sen which is a northern Thai ancient practice that uses a wooden Hammer made from tamarind Tree Bark.
Our couples package at Fah Lanna Spa is one of the most relaxing and memorable experiences we have ever had. Chiang Mai has become a ‘must visit’ destination for mindful travellers seeking wellness retreats, yoga and delicious plant based food. Away Chiang Mai Thape is a great vegan retreat that offers everything you could possibly want. Rest assured that there are many spas, yoga studios and vegan eateries around Chiang Mai.
