Virgin Atlantic and WestJet announce a codeshare agreement to strengthen the vital connections between Canada, the UK, and key connecting areas including India. The partnership will provide seamless connectivity to customers travelling between Canada and the UK, as well as enhanced benefits for connecting travellers.

Virgin Atlantic and Canada Border Services Agency are partnering to provide seamless connections for customers via cities that qualify. The two airlines will conveniently be located at Terminal 3 at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Customers will be able easily to transfer through Toronto Pearson, without having to collect their luggage and recheck it to their final destination.

The first phase will allow Virgin Atlantic customers to seamlessly connect with WestJet flights via Toronto Pearson International to London, and Virgin Atlantic with one ticket. Calgary, Edmonton Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa and many more cities are included. Flights for London Heathrow via Toronto YYZ will be on sale starting 17 February 2025. Tickets will begin 30 March 2025. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club as well as WestJet Reward program benefits are expected to be released later this year.

Virgin Atlantic will launch a new route to Toronto next month. It is the first route into Canada in over a decade and links two global financial centers. The route will strengthen the airline’s commitment towards the Indian subcontinent, its third largest market, with optimal onward connectivity to Canadians travelling to Delhi and Mumbai, as well Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai, the Maldives and Johannesburg via London Heathrow.

Juha Jarvinen said, “Canada is a very important opportunity for Virgin Atlantic. Many of our customers travel to and from the Great White North and the UK as well as India and other destinations.”

This expanded partnership between WestJet and our partners Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM and Air France will create seamless connectivity for customers via our new route that launches between Toronto and London.

Our codeshare agreement will allow us to meet the demand for travel from the UK and India. Canadian customers can expect to receive a premium and personalised service at every stage of their journey. This is delivered by our amazing staff, the red thread which sets us apart.

John Weatherill, Executive vice-president and Chief Commercial officer at WestJet commented: “We are thrilled that we can enhance our partnership with Virgin Atlantic to support their return to Canada. As part of the first phase, we are thrilled to welcome guests from Virgin Atlantic’s worldwide network by providing connectivity throughout Canada with WestJet.”

This expanded codeshare will simplify the travel process and provide a seamless experience for all of our guests. We look forward in the months to come to establishing closer ties, and providing more options for connecting Canada with the rest of the world.

Stephen Goulding was appointed Canada Country manager by Virgin Atlantic in January 2025. Stephen Goulding will support Virgin Atlantic’s growth strategy in Canada with leaders from WestJet.
