Connecticut Airport Authority has announced that Avelo Airlines has launched its third nonstop international route from Bradley International Airport, (BDL), to the Caribbean. The service will be to Punta Cana International Airport, (PUJ), in the Dominican Republic. The inaugural flight departed this morning and will operate year-round, twice a week – on Mondays and Fridays.

Michael W. Shea said, “We congratulate Avelo Airlines in expanding its network internationally from Bradley International Airport,” Executive Director of Connecticut Airport Authority. “The new, nonstop route will provide travelers with an easier and faster journey to the popular Caribbean Island.”

Avelo Airlines flies to Cancun in Mexico (CUN), and Montego Bay in Jamaica (MBJ) from BDL.

Today Avelo achieved yet another milestone as Connecticut’s Hometown Airline. Avelo Airlines CEO Andrew Levy stated that the launch of Avelo’s exclusive nonstop flight between Hartford and Dominican Republic is Avelo Airlines third international route.

“We are thrilled to introduce a new tropical Caribbean destination for Connecticut visitors. We are also excited to make it more affordable and easier for family and friends living on either end of the route to visit one another. Today is the latest example of how we are continuing to fulfill Avelo’s purpose to inspire travel – one destination, one flight, and one Customer at a time.”

In celebration of the new service, passengers on the first flight were treated to an emotional send-off before their departure.
