According to an increasing number of tourism experts, The Gambia is the perfect year-round destination for those who want to jump into the warm waters of the mid-Atlantic even in December when the daytime temperature is around 30°C, with a feeling of freedom that we are now unaccustomed to.

The sea has a pleasant 26 – 27° water temperature in May 2021 and also in December. Spending Christmas or the turn of the year here is very enjoyable, sharing the beach with a few fish and … occasionally a few cattle. Surprisingly, they also like to sunbathe from time to time …

Eco Lodge Sanyang beach is located directly on the kilometre-long sandy beach

The little guest house reveals an unique concept that offers a distinct alternative to the traditional and conventional tourist attractions of The Gambia. Beautifully situated on a wide and clean sandy beach, this lodge has a unique open-plan restaurant overlooking the magnificent Atlantic Ocean and offers comfortable seating for 60 guests. There is a constant gentle breeze and the view of the omnipresent sea makes many a guest want to unwind here. The marvellous natural beach is deserted.

Why is this paradise rarely visited?

Because this eco lodge is located in the middle of a dense jungle-like forest and can only be reached by off-road vehicles. This keeps day tourists away from this attraction, with a correspondingly positive impact on nature and the ‘insanely great beach’ (says Marie from Strasbourg, France, for example).

This hideaway was opened in May 2021 and this paradisiacal accommodation with the flair of Robinson Crueso’s island will offer 20 rooms (after final completion in November). There is also a cosy bar, where drinks taste particularly good in this atmosphere. Of course, free Wi-Fi is available. The rooms are tastefully furnished and all have their own bathroom.

Special feature: each room has blinds so you can actually sleep without the sunlight disturbing your tired little eyes. Each room will be a blend of traditional elegance with typical Gambian yet modern facilities. The fan can be adjusted to any speed and runs very quietly at low speed.

Holidaymakers actively support environmental protection in The Gambia

The location of this Eco Lodge is one of the most beautiful in the whole of West Africa. The Eco Lodge Sanyang Beach has the great advantage that it is not so easy to reach. This protects the species-rich flora and fauna in the surrounding area. The Spanish operator Jose and his Gambian General Manager Buba do everything they can to protect and preserve the beauty of the area and especially the beaches as much as possible. Various plantations of useful trees are also planned, which are to be cared for and nurtured to organic standards. Cashew and mango trees, more coconut palms and so future guests will be able to harvest their own organic fruit.
