According to an increasing number of tourism experts, The Gambia is the perfect winter holiday destination for sun-seekers from Europe. Sun-seekers from the north can jump into the waters of the warm mid-Atlantic in The Gambia even in December or January with daytime temperatures of up to 30°C.

The whole experience is sweetened by a feeling of freedom that we are now unaccustomed to. Nobody wears a face mask here and guests feel comfortable and carefree. All restaurants, nightclubs and discos are open every day – and are very popular. The sea also attracts visitors in winter with a pleasant water temperature of 22° – 27°…

The Gambia: ‘The Smiling Coast of Africa’

The smallest country of Africa has indeed earned the advertising slogan ‘The Smiling Coast of Africa’. The people of The Gambia are remarkably friendly and everyone speaks English. The Republic of The Gambia is the smallest country on the entire African continent.

According to Africa specialist Mr. Frank Müller from Rostock, it boasts the friendliest population in the whole of Africa:

“In my opinion, the West African country can be described as a safe holiday destination. Gambia’s surface area is only around 11400 square kilometres, which corresponds to about a third of NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany). The coastline of just under 100 kilometres is partly deserted and beautiful. There is a considerable number of endemic animals and plants and even monkeys and crocodiles can be found here.”

Frank Müller adds:

“Apart from the Gambian west coast on the Atlantic, the country is completely surrounded by Senegal. The Gambia lies on both sides of the lower reaches of the Gambia River, a picturesque natural paradise. The river also gives the nation its name, flowing through the centre of The Gambia and flowing into the Atlantic Ocean.

According to an estimate by a Gambian journalist, the small country has just under 3 million inhabitants. Banjul is the capital and also the country’s largest urban centre. The larger towns are Serekunda and Brikama.”

Concept of Mica apartments has several Unique Selling Points:

The compact complex of MICA Apartments is a new luxury apartment complex that opened in October 2021, offering holidaymakers, business travellers or even couples a truly unique and individual African holiday experience.

Just a short walk from the Atlantic Ocean beach, the clean and well-appointed MICA Apartments offer guests a fantastic location in the heart of Senegambia, surrounded by the beauty of the beaches and a variety of bars, nightclubs and restaurants to choose from.

The neighboorhood is very permissive

The entire range of amusements and entertainment is open and invites you to have fun without masks. If holidaymakers are hungry at 11.30 pm: no problem, numerous restaurants in the vicinity of the ‘Mica Apartments’ offer a rich menu.

The concept of the Mica Apartments is also impressive in terms of furnishings: each of the 20 apartments has a very comfortable queen-size bed, quiet air conditioning and very quiet fans. The well-equipped kitchen in each Mica apartment with a gas cooker, kettle and fridge is a winner with guests: in London, such a flat would cost around £1000 per week.

So you can cater for yourself and dine when it suits you. In February 2022, the ‘Mica Apartments’ will be extended to include an attraction: a rooftop terrace restaurant will delight guests with sensational views and good food. It will be another unique selling point and Prince will cater to the tastes of both Europeans and Africans visiting The Gambia or Banjul.

The author’s assessment

It will be a big hit and occupancy has been extremely good right from the start (since opening on 15.10.2021). The combination of well-equipped residential units and a hotel with every comfort and security and very fast internet in the middle of a trendy neighbourhood leaves no other conclusion: this will be a successful business model and could start a trend.

The plans of Prince and his staff are promising: there will be a roof terrace with a restaurant as early as February 2022. My insider tip for anyone who wants to combine the luxury of fine dining with the comfort of their ‘own’ residential unit in the heart of the number one party district.
