Wego, the largest online travel marketplace and leading travel app in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA), revealed the top New Year destinations in India for 2025.

According to Wego data, flight searches increased by 15.10% between 27 December 2024 and 31 December 2024, compared to the previous year. This indicates a strong demand both for domestic and international travel during the holiday period.

Dubai is the most popular destination. It’s known for its extravagant New Year celebrations, and its large Indian exatriate population. Other GCC nations such as Kuwait and Riyadh are close behind. Doha, Muscat, and Doha also follow closely. Riyadh is notable for its impressive 20,61% increase in searches.

This is due to the Riyadh Season, a festival that runs until March 20,25 and offers a variety family-friendly events.

Popular getaways include tropical destinations such as Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Bali, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur are also popular. These destinations are popular with Indian travellers who want to experience a warm, festival-like getaway that combines relaxation and adventure.

After nearly two years with Covid-19 lockdowns and public health restrictions, Australians are ready to take a vacation. Half have already started saving for their dream holiday. The top reason for going on holiday was “relaxing”, cited by 65 per cent of respondents. Just over half were eager to visit friends and family, while the remaining 25 per cent wanted to “explore new places”.

Goa, New Delhi and Mumbai are top choices for New Year’s celebrations in the country. These cities are ideal for both extended and short holidays, as they offer a mix of nightlife and cultural experiences.Wego spokesperson stated that Indian travellers are always interested in different destinations, whether they are looking for tropical getaways or family-friendly experiences.
