If you’re not ready to say goodbye to summer yet, a last minute autumn sun getaway could be the perfect solution. Wizz Air has not only looked into which beaches are most and least crowded, but also researched average temperatures and daylight hours for September, October, and November to uncover the best-hidden spots for late-season sunshine.

Wizz Air analysed 50 European countries’ top beaches to determine the most and less overcrowded beaches. Then, they used their travel experience and a calculation which involved measuring the beach and dividing its size by the size a beach towel. They then divided that by the number of average daily visitors. This gave an idea of how much space is available per person on each beach. The temperature and beach space were ranked to give each destination a score out of fifty, with higher scores indicating a better destination.

Wizz Air combines these insights with weather data to reveal the ideal destinations, which offer not only ample room to relax, but also perfect conditions for you to extend your summer.

András Rado, Head of Communications said “While many know Europe’s iconic beach spots like Ibiza or the Algarve, there are countless hidden coastal gems that often go unnoticed. Wizz Air is dedicated to helping travellers discover these lesser known treasures, such as secluded beaches in Croatia or stretches of sand in Albania.
