The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), announced that it will bring the best of Thailand’s offerings to India via Amazing Thailand Fest.
The event will take place from 27 to 29 Septembre at the Central Atrium of Express Avenue Mall, Chennai, India. It is supported by the Royal Thai consulate general, Thai Trade Center Commercial Section, and Board of Investment of Thailand in Chennai.
The Amazing Thailand Fest is a series of activities that revolves around five “Must Dos”, or experiences, in the country. They are: Must Taste (must try), Must Buy (must buy), Must Seek (must seek) and Must See. These activities were created to create lasting memories and convey Thailand’s soft power to prospective travellers.
The activities are spread out over several zones. They include a tourism information booth by TAT and Team Thailand; a zone that features contemporary Thai fashions and the historical links between Thai and Indian textiles; a zone where visitors can take photos in different Thai locations using a green screen; and a Muay Thai Zone displaying the internationally-recognized martial art.
Tourism as a means of economic stimulation
TAT Governor Thapanee K. Kiatphaibool spoke of the event, saying: “The Amazing Thailand Fest represents our strategy to expand Thailand’s reach to other Indian Cities and strengthen the good relationships between Thailand and India by tourism and cultural exchange. [The event supports] The government’s vision of stimulating the Thai economy through tourism.”
India is Thailand’s fifth largest visitor market. The number Indian tourists is expected to be around 1.7 millions this year. This will depend on several factors including Thailand’s Visa Exemption which allows Indian travellers for tourism or short-term engagements.
